The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is owned and operated by the Mohawk Nation. It sits just inside the local Mohawk reservation borders, right beside the town of Bombay, NY.
The Casino first opened its doors to the public on April 12, 1999. The property underwent a $74 million casino expansion in 2011. A hotel was added in 2013. The property is now a full-service casino resort with a hotel, spa, numerous dining options and a lounge.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is located in Upstate New York, just off New York State Route 37. It is just a stone’s throw from the Canadian-US border where the St. Regis River meets the Saint Lawrence Seaway.
$74 million casino expansion
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino now features 130,000 square-feet of gaming space. The casino has more than 1,600 of the latest slot machines, and more than 35 table games. There is also a Bingo Palace with room for up to 500 players.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino also features a modern slot ticketing system with cash out kiosks.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino partnered with mobile casino gaming industry experts JOINGO to launch the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort Mobile App in 2016. The app gives player’s club members the ability to:

- make restaurant reservations

The app is available for iOS and Android device users.

New York lawmakers were not currently considering any plans to legalize and regulate online casino gaming as of the first quarter of 2018. Online poker could be next
Two identical bills aimed at opening up a legal and regulated online poker market were introduced into the New York State Senate and Assembly in 2017, then carried over into 2018. Westchester Assemblyman and the State Assembly’s Chairman of the Committee on Racing and Wagering, J. Gary Pretlow, has said there is very little standing in its way. He also has claimed all of New York’s licensed casino and Racino properties are supportive.
This would likely include the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. In fact, its recent expansion suggests the property is interested in new revenue streams. At one time, the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino hosted a seven-table poker room, but it has since been closed.
It would appear the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino has very little experience with online poker, However, its willingness to adopt emerging revenue streams should trump that.
Now a full-service resort and casino
Recent renovations have truly transformed the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino into a full-service resort and casino.
